About TRICOM
During the decades of the 1980's and early 1990's it became increasingly obvious that solid united efforts were needed to provide for crime prevention and quality of life needs in the ever-changing Winnebago County areas of Neenah, Menasha, and the Town of Menasha.
Through the input of the Chiefs of Police, Crime Prevention Officers, community groups, social service organizations, and many others... including concerned citizens... a solution began to take shape. In other words, "EVERYBODY'S BUSINESS."
In early 1994, TRICOM was formed to include the three areas... plus three commitments dedicated to SAFETY, HEALTH, and CRIME PREVENTION. The Board of Directors formed included citizens from the various organizations as well as "at large" representation. A key component had Law Enforcement acting in an advisory role.
In 1995 the organization was expanded with the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office joining to provide input from a much wider area through their Crime Prevention Officer's effort in the growing outlying areas.
Later, in 2003, the City of Oshkosh became a large and important addition and completed coverage to all of Winnebago County.
As for the future, the county has the same needs, TRICOM still has the constant goals, and dedication, and the organization functions much as originally intended... with growing emphasis toward coalition with a growing number of service organizations.
