Crime Prevention Academy

Unfortunately, the 2011 CPA has been canceled. We'll have more information about participating next year as the date approaches.

Crime prevention plays an important and vital role in reducing crime in any community. When residents and businesses take an active interest in the protection of their communities, they will enjoy a safer and closer relationship with their neighbors. It is our hope that the graduates will become partners with TRICOM in identifying problems and solutions to the crime issues that are affecting our county. Graduates will also take their knowledge back into their neighborhoods and businesses where they can use it to enhance the quality of life.

The Crime Prevention Academy is an eight-week program that will provide an in-depth view into various areas of crime prevention. Participants will be empowered to make a difference in their community.

Classes will be held Tuesday nights from 6:00 to 8:15pm and run from January 25, 2011 to March 15, 2011.

Topics include Virtual Block Watch, Residential Security, Abatement, Local Case Studies, Pharmaceutical Abuse, Code Enforcement, Identity Theft, Internet Safety, and much, much more.

The class fee is $20 and covers class materials, weekly meals and graduation. Some scholarships are available to cover the fee. Individuals who apply for the Crime Prevention Academy must be at least 18 years of age and be committed to attending all 8 weeks. Applications must be received by January 5, 2011.
