You can discourage thieves with a few simple actions.
- Light the outside of your home to make it more visible to your neighbors. Outside motion lights can make it almost impossible for a burglar to enter without being seen.
- Trim bushes near doors to reduce hidden places for burglars.
- Install dead-bolt locks on all outside doors. Use double cylinder dead bolt locks, so you can open the door from the inside without a key.
- Install peepholes in all outside doors.
- Use "Operation ID" to mark all your personal items in the home and garage. Contact your local law enforcement agency for more information.
